Cleveland, Godbout win hurdle races at Wartburg

WAVERLY, Iowa - Max Cleveland and Brenden Godbout of the Simpson College men's track and field team each won races in the hurdle events at the Wartburg Outdoor Select.

Cleveland set a new personal best by .01 seconds in the 110 meter hurdles, while Godbout clocked a season-best time of 54.85 in the 400 meter hurdles.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Cleveland ran a time of 14.42 in the event, defeating Northern Iowa's Carter Accola who qualified in first.
  • Godbout narrowly edged Cleveland in the 400 meter hurdles, with Cleveland coming in second with a time of 55.18.
  • Joseph Sams continued his impressive sophomore season with two personal bests in the 100 and 200 meters.
  • Sams finished second in the 200 meters with a blistering 22.13 and also took sixth in the 100 meters in a time of 11.00.
  • Clarke Latcham took the silver in the high jump, with a new career-best jump of 1.95 meters, which is currently tied for 18th in Division III.
