Storm remain in national rankings for fourth straight week

NEW ORLEANS - The Simpson College men's track and field team remained in the top 25 of the USTFCCCA National Rankings for the fourth straight week.

The Storm checked in at No. 24, collecting 79.49 total points. Simpson was represented by five different athletes across seven individual events, as well as the 4x400 relay team. Simpson was also one of five American Rivers Conference teams in the rankings, tied for the most from any conference.

Spencer Moon continued to lead the way for Simpson, earning 54.93 points towards the Storm's total in the 1,500, 5,000, and 10,000 meter runs. Moon accumulated the bulk of his points in the latter two events, holding the school and conference records in each, while also claiming his second straight 10,000 meter conference title last weekend.

Ulysses Patterson is ranked eighth in the decathlon, after a score of 6,664 points that earned him all-conference honors and moved him up to fourth all-time in school history. Max Cleveland ranks inside the top 20 in the 110 meter hurdles, with his time of 14.32 earning him all-conference honors for the sixth time in his career over the weekend.

Brenden Godbout is ranked 30th in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 53.49 that earned him his first career all-conference honor. Carter Berkey also debuted in the national list for the first time this year with a season-best long jump of 7.12 meters.

Godbout, Patterson, and Cleveland are all part of the 4x400 relay team that ranks just inside the top 25, joining Joseph Sams.

Godbout, Berkey, Cleveland, and Sams will compete tomorrow at the Midwest Twilight Qualifier, among multiple other athletes for the men and women looking to earn a spot at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
