Storm lose heartbreaker to Central

INDIANOLA, Iowa -- An 86th-minute goal proved to be the difference as the Simpson men's soccer team was on the losing end of a 2-1 match at home against Central Wednesday night.

The Dutch (12-2-2, 4-1-1 A-R-C) got on the board first in the 53rd minute to give the visitors an early 1-0 advantage in the second half.

Less than a minute later, the Storm (14-3-1, 4-2-0 A-R-C) responded with a goal of their own, this time coming off Enrique Idehen's boot to make it a 1-1 contest. Justin Gilmour sent the ball in front of the goal, allowing Jordy Triana-Vasquez to push a one-touch pass to Idehen, who finished it off for his 10th goal of the season.

Central scored the game-winner with less than five minutes left on the clock to seal the win and move ahead of Simpson in the American Rivers Conference standings into sole possession of second place.

The Storm's offense rattled off 10 of their 16 shots in the first 45 minutes of play, while the visitors attempted just two in the opening half. In the second, the Dutch shot nine times.

Darius Doswell had six shots to lead the offense and Idehen attempted three.

Notes
• Idehen is tied for second in the league with teammate Tanner Alderson for goals scored.
• Gilmour is now tied for third in the conference with six assists and Triana-Vasquez is tied for fourth with five.
