Men’s soccer suffers loss at Gustavus Adolphus

ST. PETER, Minn. -- For the first time this season, the Simpson men's soccer team was on the losing end of a nonconference match by losing 6-1 at Gustavus Adolphus in St. Peter, Minn. Sunday.

After falling down 5-0 through the first 62 minutes of action, Justin Gilmour erased the blank spot for the Storm (3-1). Gilmour received a pass from Baraka Ellie and tallied his first netter of the year, while Ellie tallied his third assist.

Simpson's lone goal is the first the Gusties (4-0) have allowed all season and are outscoring their opponents 27-1 through their first four games.

Gustavus Adolphus went ahead early in the 2nd minute of play and tacked on another goal just moments later in the 8th minute. The hosts went into halftime with a 3-0 advantage and were able to add three more in the second for good measure.

The Storm ramped up their offensive attack in the second period by firing nine shots, while only allowing four. In total, Simpson attempted 12 shots and Gilmour had the most with three tries.
