Men’s soccer cruises past Westminster on road

FULTON, Mo. -- Darius Doswell and Enrique Idehen each scored two goals in a cmatch for the second time this year as Simpson men's soccer won 7-2 at Westminster on Saturday.

Doswell opened the scoring early in the eighth minute for the Storm (7-1-0). A few moments later, Tanner Alderson doubled the score with a netter in the 10th minute off a pass from Justin Gilmour.

After about 22 minutes of silence from the Simpson offense, Idehen scored his first goal of the game in the 32nd after Jordy Triana-Vasquez dished it to him. Idehen added his fifth goal of the season just seconds before halftime in the 45th minute to make it 4-0, coming off another pass from Triana-Vasquez.

Less than 90 seconds into the second half, Doswell stretched the lead to 5-0 off a penalty kick for his fifth tally of the year. Gilmour and Triana-Vasquez wanted in on the scoring as well and both notched goals in the 54th and 55th minutes to end the team's scoring for the day.

The Blue Jays (0-6-0) finally got on the board in the 74th minute and then added to their score with another tally a minute later.

Simpson's offense was on the hunt all day and rattled off 23 shots, with 18 coming in the first half. Of those 23, 14 were on target. Opportunities were there for the Storm as they produced nine corner kicks during the contest and only allowed Westminster to take one.
