Men's soccer opens 2019 with road victory

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. -- The Simpson men's soccer team opened up the 2019 season with a 2-0 victory at Augustana on Friday coming off of two first half goals.

Senior Darius Doswell opened up the scoring in the 13th minute with an unassisted tally. Freshman Dominek Miyeng received a pass from junior Julius Cooper to stretch the advantage in the 32nd minute. Doswell now has 15 career goals, while Miyeng and Cooper notched their first points in a Storm uniform (1-0-0).

Simpson placed five shots on-goal, while the Vikings (0-1-0) could get off one attack at the goal against the Storm's tough defense. Tanner Alderson, Baraka Ellie and Miyeng each had at least three shot attempts to pace the offense.

Junior Jake Potratz recorded his 25th win while in goal for Simpson. Potratz had one save during his 90 minutes of action.
