Early goal sinks Storm against Loras

DUBUQUE, Iowa -- An early goal in the opening 30 seconds of play proved to be the difference as Loras gave the Simpson men's soccer team its first American Rivers Conference loss of the year after a 4-0 defeat on the road Saturday.

The Duhawks (12-4-1, 4-2-0 A-R-C) tallied the game-winner with 30 seconds ticked off the clock to give the Storm (14-2-1, 4-1-0 A-R-C) their first loss in 12 matches. Loras would tally another goal in the first half to send the game into halftime at 2-0.

Loras tacked on its third goal in the 50th minute and would score the dagger in the 88th minute.

Jake Potratz kept eight shots out of the goal for his most saves in a contest since he grabbed eight against Loras on Oct. 15, 2017.

Simpson won the corner kick advantage with six tries and held the Duhawks to three. The Storm tallied 13 shots during the contest as Enrique Idehen took four shots with three on goal to pace the offense.

Notes
• This is the first time Simpson has not scored in a game since Oct. 20, 2018, which was a 1-0 defeat to Wartburg.
