Bowman, Dean collect goals in road victory

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. -- The Simpson men's soccer team grabbed its third straight shutout to begin its season with a 2-0 victory at Wis.-Platteville in a nonconference contest Wednesday.

On the team's sixth shot attempt of the game, Seth Bowman was able to place one in goal to give the Storm (3-0-0) a quick 1-0 lead in the 19th minute of play. Both of Bowman's goals this season have been game-winners, which is tops in the conference.

The Pioneers (1-1-1) kept Simpson's offense under control the rest of the half and through the first 10 minutes of the second before Ian Dean entered the scoring column. Dean retrieved a pass from Ricardo Ibarra and Baraka Ellie for his first netter of the year and 10th of his career. Ellie now has 10 career assists through 19 career matches.

Simpson outshot the hosts 10-7, while Jake Potratz had to make four saves in goal to preserve the clean sheet. The team's defense has been stellar through the first three contests and have not conceded a goal yet, the only team in the conference to do so.
