Wartburg takes finale from Storm

Wartburg scored the first two goals of the match then held on for a 2-1 win agaisnt Simpson on Saturday night at Buxton Stadium.

Kaylee Benning scored what would be the game-winner for the Knights (13-4-1, 7-1 IIAC)  in the 50th minute, taking a feed from Jess MaCauley.

The Storm (7-10-1, 3-5 IIAC) answered when Nicole Dillenburg connected on her tenth goal of the season, tying Katherine Bird for the team lead.

Despite out-shooting Wartburg in the second half, Simpson couldn't come away with the equalizer. Jessica Toyne and Megan Petersen split time between with posts, with Toyne making one save.

The Storm enter the Iowa Conference Tournament as the No. 6 seed and face third-seeded Dubuque in the opening round Tuesday at 5 p.m. in Dubuque.
