Aggressive Grand View attack too much for Simpson

DES MOINES, Iowa - Lindsey Bardole scored two goals and assisted on another, Katie Zenz earned a shutout between the posts and Grand View beat Simpson 3-0 on Wednesday night at Cownie Soccer Complex.

The Vikings (1-5-1) earned their first win of the season, employing a steady offensive attack which produced 21 shots to Simpson's six. Grand View applied the pressure early in the match, taking 15 shots in the first 45 minutes.

Jordyn Thompson put Grand View on the board in the 10th minute, taking a feed from Bardole. Bardole did the rest of the damage, netting goals in the 15th and 52nd minute. Bardole's final goal came courtesy of a Meghan McCoy assist.

The Storm (2-4) spent a majority of the evening without the services of starting goalkeeper, Megan Petersen (Indianola, Iowa), who left the game after two minutes due to injury. Backup keeper Jess Toyne (Bellevue, Neb.) made six saves in the relief appearance.

Simpson continues its non-conference schedule Sundaywhen it travels to Oskaloosa to face William Penn at 6:30 p.m.
