Storm fall to Luther, 3-1

INDIANOLA - Luther scored three unanswered goals after falling behind early, earning a 3-1 win against Simpson on Saturday at Buxton Stadium.

Kat Block converted the game-winner in the 36th minute, giving the Norse (7-5-1, 3-3 IIAC) a 2-1 lead. Paige Ofstedahl netted the equalizer in the 19th minute and assisted on Block's winner.

Katherine Bird's team-leading ninth goal of the season gave the Storm (6-8-1, 2-3 IIAC) a 1-0 lead 17 minutes into the contest. The lead didn't last long, however, as Ofstedahl's game-tying goal came just over one minute after Bird found the left net from 10 yards out.

Luther led Simpson in shots (14-12) and shots on goal (9-7). Jess Toyne made six saves between the posts for the Storm, playing all 90 minutes. Elisabeth Haager also had six saves for the Norse.

Simpson's next test comes Wednesday when the team makes the short trek to Pella for a match against Central. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
