Simpson coasts to 4-0 win over Central

PELLA - Four different players scored goals for Simpson in a 4-0 win over Central on Wednesday.

Katherine Bird led the way with a goal and two assists as the Storm (7-8-1, 3-3 IIAC) out-shot Central 23-4. The win snaps a two-match losing streak.

All of Simpson's goals came in the first half, starting with Lacey Davis' first goal of the season in the 13th minute. less than a minute later Bird connected on her team-leading 10th goal as Simpson took a 2-0 lead.

The rest of Simpson's scoring came in the final minutes of the first half, as Susan Leslie took a feed from Bird in the 41st minute for the Storm's third goal. Nicole Dillenburg joined in with her ninth goal of the season, taking the helper from Bird in the 44th minute.

Jess Toyne and Megan Petersen combined for the shutout in goal, as the Simpson defense held the Dutch (2-12, 2-4 IIAC) to only two shots on goal all afternoon.

Only two matches remain on Simpson's schedule, the first coming this Saturday, Oct. 23 when the Storm travel to Loras for a 1 p.m. kickoff with the Duhawks in Dubuque.
