Multi events kick off day one at conference championships

LINCOLN, Neb. - Three members of the Simpson College track and field teams kicked off competition on day one at the American Rivers Conference Championships.

Ulysses Patterson is in prime position after the first day, sitting in first place by 100 points with a score of 3,574 points. Patterson placed in the top three in all five events, including winning the 100 meters (11.20) and tying for first in the high jump with Clarke Latcham in a mark of 1.87 meters. Latcham is in fifth place overall, setting a personal best in the shot put with a throw of 10.8 meters.

Anna Parrott sits in fifth overall in the women's heptathlon, setting career bests in three of four events on the day. Parrott clocked an 18.16 in the 100 meter hurdles and a toss of 9.62 meters in the shot put. She then placed second in the 200 meters with a career-best time of 27.01.

The Storm resume competition tomorrow at 10 a.m.
