Multi duo competes on first day of NCAA qualifier

WAVERLY, Iowa - Ulysses Patterson and Clarke Latcham competed in the heptathlon on day one of the Wartburg Qualifier, with each looking to earn a spot to the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships.

Patterson is currently in second place through day one with a point total of 2,791 points through four events. Patterson is right on pace to go past his school record set in late January, earning 2,788 points through the first four events in that competition. Latcham sits in fourth with a score of 2,672 points, just 15 points off his personal best.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Patterson finished either second or third in all four individual events, including setting two career bests.
  • The Clinton, Iowa native took second in the 60 meters with a time of 7.23 to earn second place, before hitting a mark of 1.89 meters in the high jump to take third.
  • Latcham tied the heptathlon meet record in the high jump held by former Storm great Sam Adeniyi with a mark of 1.92 meters.
  • Latcham also set a personal best in the shot put with a throw of 10.67 meters and claimed third place in the 60 meters with a time of 7.28.
