Moon claims 5k victory at A-R-C championships, DMR earns all-conference honors

DUBUQUE, Iowa - For the second straight year, Spencer Moon claimed the indoor 5,000 meter conference title for the Simpson College men's track and field team.

Moon won the race in a time of 14:49.07, pulling away over the final mile of the race. Moon has now won the last four 5,000 meter races at the conference championships, dating back to his title in the 2022 outdoor 5,000 meters.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Moon has also won the last six individual conference championship races he has competed in, winning four 5,000 meter titles, one indoor 3,000 meter title, and one 10,000 meter title.
  • The team of James Murray, Blake DePhillips, Adam Gruhn, and Ean Warrick earned all-conference honors in the distance medley relay, taking third in a time of 10:15.22.
  • Max Cleveland comfortably qualified into tomorrow's final in the 60 meter hurdles, winning his heat in a time of 8.05, breaking the previous facility and championship record.
  • Brenden Godbout claimed the last spot in the final as well, setting a new career-best time of 8.47.
  • Ulysses Patterson leads the men's pentathlon after day one and four events. Patterson currently has 2,673 points and also won the men's long jump with a mark of 6.61 meters.
  • Clarke Latcham clocked a time of 7.21 in the 60 meter hurdles event of the pentathlon, breaking the previous facility record for the 60 meter hurdles (pentathlon only).
