Patterson breaks own school record in heptathlon
WAVERLY, Iowa - Ulysses Patterson of the Simpson College men's track and field team broke his own school record in the heptathlon at the Wartburg Qualifier on Saturday.
Patterson scored 4,871 points, ranking him 16th in the country at time of writing. If Patterson holds his spot, that would put him tentatively in the field for next week's NCAA Championships.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Patterson won two of the three events today, setting personal bests in both.
- He clocked a time of 8.77 in the 60 meter hurdles, before winning the 1,000 meters in a time of 2:45.40.
- James Murray lowered his personal best in the mile with a time of 4:13.44, taking fourth in the race. Murray also remains third all-time in school history in the event.
- Adam Gruhn clocked a career-best time of 1:57.11 in the 800 meters, good for 10th in school history.
