Storm complete final preparations for conference championships

WAVERLY, Iowa - The Simpson College men's track and field team completed their final meet before the conference championships at the Liz Wuertz Invite at Wartburg.

The meet's standout performers included milers James Murray and Ean Warrick, sprinter Kendrick Achebe, and long jumper Clarke Latcham, with multiple other athletes setting personal or career bests as well.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • James Murray took sixth in the mile in a time of 4:18.63, around half a second off his personal best in the event.
  • Ean Warrick was one spot behind with a time of 4:20.17, moving into eighth all-time in school history.
  • Kendrick Achebe took the silver medal in the 60 meters, running a time of 6.99 to tie his career-best.
  • Achebe remains the only Storm sprinter to run under seven seconds since the 2017-18 season, doing it twice this season.
  • Clarke Latcham tied for first in the high jump with a mark of 1.80 meters.
  • JR Knauss took the bronze with the same distance, but needed two more attempts to clear 1.80 meters than Latcham and Grinnell's Jack Novelle.
  • The men took fourth overall out of six teams, scoring 55 points.
