Sprinters headline success at Wartburg

WAVERLY, Iowa - The Simpson College men's track and field team experienced more success at the Wartburg Select, headlined by multiple sprinters winning events or setting career-bests.

Max Cleveland, Joseph Sams, and Kendrick Achebe all set meet records or personal bests, with Clarke Latcham also winning the men's high jump.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Cleveland ran an 8.02 in the 60 meter hurdle prelims to break the meet record and followed that up with an 8.01 to win the final.
  • Achebe clocked a 6.99 in the 60 meter dash prelims, the first Storm runner to break the seven second barrier since Dylan Kalinay in the 2017-18 season.
  • Achebe's time is now tied for seventh in school history.
  • Sams moved up into sixth all-time in school history in the 200 meters with a time of 22.52.
  • Latcham won the men's high jump with a mark of 1.90 meters, just .01 meters off his career-best.
  • Adam Gruhn ran a career-best 1:57.92 in the 800 meters, placing him just outside the top 10 in school history.
