Kalinay earns IIAC honor for third straight week

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Simpson's Dylan Kalinay earned Iowa Conference Track Performer of the Week honors for the period ending Sunday, April 15 -- his third straight weekly award -- the league office announced Monday.

IIAC Performers of the Week

The senior sprinter and hurdler from Toledo, Iowa, has swept IIAC Track Performer of the Week honors this outdoor season. He posted a pair of top-10 times in the NCAA and added another top-20 effort as the Storm competed in two events this past week.

Simpson began the week competing at the Iowa Musco Twilight on Thursday, April 12. He lowered his time in the 110-meter hurdles, finishing in 14.53 seconds to place sixth, the No. 6 time in Division III. He then anchored the Storm's fourth-place 4x100-meter relay that finished in 41.81 seconds, the third-fastest time in school history and No. 6 time in Division III.

The Storm finished the week at the weather-shortened Jim Duncan Invitational on Friday, April 13. There, Kalinay set a personal-best in the 100-meter dash, running 10.77. The time is the fifth-fastest in school history and good for No. 18 in Division III. He won the 110 hurdles, finishing in 14.54.

Kalinay owns the fastest time in the IIAC in the 100 and 110 hurdles and ranks third in the 200. The Storm's 4x100 relay is also first in the league.

The conference weekly honor is the 14th of Kalinay's career and marks the seventh on the outdoor side.
