Storm win 4x200 relay at Dubuque
DUBUQUE, Iowa — The 4x200-meter relay team brought home a championship to highlight six, top-five finishes for the Simpson men's track and field team at the Dubuque Spartan Invitational in the final tune-up before next weekend's Iowa Conference Championships on Friday.
Highlights
• The 4x200-meter relay team of Dylan Kalinay, Emmitt Wheatley, Travis Tupper and Troy Vittetoe ran 1:30.13 to win the event, running the third-fastest time in school history.
• Isaiah Strong cleared 6-feet, 4-inches in the high jump to place second.
• The duo of Jordan Coughenour and Chase Wetterling finished third and fifth, respectively, in the 400 meters. Coughenour ran 50.69 and Wetterling ran a season-best 50.99.
• Tyler Combs took fourth in the 800, running 1:58.54. The time was just .14 seconds off his career-best.
• Sam Adeniyi ran a season-best 7.88 in the 55 hurdles to take fourth.
• Dylan Kalinay didn't participate in the finals in either the 55 meters for the 55 hurdles, but posted top-two times in the prelims. He ran a career-best 6.52 in the prelims of the 55 meters, the No. 2 qualifying time. He ran 7.76 in the 55 hurdles, the to top qualifying time.
