Kalinay, Coughenour lead Storm at season-opening indoor meet

PELLA, Iowa — Dylan Kalinay started the season with a win and a top-10 time in the nation in the 60-meter hurdles and Jordan Coughenour won the 600-meter dash to lead the Simpson men's track and field team at the season-opening Dutch Holiday Preview on Saturday, Dec. 9.

Kirk Wicks added a second-place finish in the 300 meters and Bryce Exline took third in the 600 meters as the Storm took a partial squad to the first meet of the season.

Kalinay ran 8.28 to win the 60 hurdles, currently the No. 8 time in Division III and just .08 seconds off his career-best. The senior added a sixth-place effort in the 60 (7.08).

Coughenour won the 600 in 1:24.00, edging Truman's Mitch Henderson (1:24.33). Exline came in third, crossing in 1:27.93.

Wicks came in second in the 300, finishing behind Indian Hills' Joshua Raphael. Wicks ran 36.61 and teammate Kamerson Russell took fifth in 37.41.
