Feature Friday: head women's soccer coach Jeremy Reinert

In our first edition of Feature Friday, we hear from the reigning American Rivers Conference Women's Soccer Coach of the Year, Jeremy Reinert, and learn a few interesting facts about him that few may not know.

In what city/state did you grow up in?

Indianola, Iowa

What college(s) did you attend?

Simpson College - BA in Sports Administration

Green Bay Packers
U.S. Women's National Team

LeBron James

Favorite vacation spot?

Somewhere new. I love traveling, experiencing new parts of the world, hiking and experiencing new cultures.

Favorite spot on campus?

Bill Buxton Stadium or SAE Fraternity. My best sports memories were made on the turf, but I met my best friends while living in SAE.

Favorite thing about Simpson?

Simpson College can be whatever you need it to be. It's the "wild" in UNO, it's the "create your own card" in Apples to Apples, it is truly different to everyone. As a student I was so fortunate to be empowered to learn off-campus and hit the coaching world ready to contribute to multiple programs. As an employee, I am supported to chase championships, influence the diversity, equity and inclusive values of our community, and enjoy my "job" by surrounding myself with athletes and assistant coaches who make every day a blast!

Family?

My wife's name is Amy and we have a five-year old dog named Gracie

What would you be doing if you were not coaching?

Teaching high school English

Favorite athletic moment?

As an athlete: 2011 scoring with six seconds left in double overtime to beat the University of Dubuque, 2-1.
As a Coach: Clinching a conference tournament berth with a 1-0 win over Nebraska Wesleyan this past year OR winning a High School State Championship with Bishop Heelan in 2015.

One thing people don't know about you?

I am a PROUD eight-time Simpson Intramural Champion: ping pong doubles (Mike Flanagan), racquetball singles, racquetball co-ed doubles (Jamie Busby), racquetball men's doubles (Brian Newton), indoor soccer, outdoor soccer, dodgeball and campus day kickball.
