Roberts scores twice as Storm draw at Coe

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- The Simpson women's soccer team scored two first half goals in hopes of earning its first American Rivers Conference win of the season, but Coe evened the score in the second half to force a double-overtime draw Wednesday night.

Megan Roberts opened the scoring in the ninth minute for the Storm (6-1-5, 0-0-2 A-R-C) off a pass from Baileigh Nagy. Nagy set the play up with a cross from the left, allowing Roberts to kick it in for the early lead.

In the 26th minute, Roberts tallied another netter, this time from 15-yards out on a full sprint for her fourth goal of the season.

The Kohawks (5-5-2, 0-2-1 A-R-C) cut the deficit in the 56th minute with a goal and brought the match to a 2-2 tie in the 69th minute.

Coe led the attack all match and fired off 26 shots, while Simpson attempted just 13. Both overtime periods had minimal action as the Storm attempted zero shots and the Kohawks had three.

Rachel Neumann had a season-high nine saves in goal for Simpson to put her season total to 44 in nine appearances.

Notes
• Nagy earned her second assist of the season and first point since the team's first contest on Aug. 30.
• Roberts is now second on the Storm with eight points in her first season on the roster.
