Strecker delivers game-winner over Central

INDIANOLA, Iowa -- Madi Strecker scored her first career game-winner to lift the Simpson women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Central Wednesday night at home to stop a five-match losing streak to the Dutch.

After a foul on Central (5-9-2, 0-5-1 A-R-C) in the 17th minute, Strecker lined up for the free kick from 30-yards out and sent the ball to the left post for her second goal of the season to deliver Simpson's (9-2-5, 3-1-2 A-R-C) first win over the Dutch since 2011.

The Storm had a chance early to score in the seventh minute as Kaitlyn Bravek had a shot sail hit and hit the right post to keep the match scoreless.

Rachel Neumann increased her league-leading shutout tally to six after tonight's performance in goal. Neumann saved three shots to keep the clean sheet and now boasts a season record of 8-1-4.

Simpson attempted 13 shots, while the visitors had 20 in the losing effort. The Storm placed seven of those shots on target. Baileigh Nagy paced the offense with three shots, while Cassidy Price, Megan Roberts, Bravek and Strecker each sprinkled in two shots apiece.

• This is the second time in the 30-match series that Simpson has won 1-0 over Central.
• Neumann is still first in the A-R-C with an 88.6 save percentage and is second with a goals-against average of 60.2.
• With tonight's victory, Simpson has its most conference wins in a season since they tallied five during the 2011 campaign.
