Simpson grabs another shutout over Augustana

INDIANOLA, Iowa -- After 110 minutes of play, the Simpson women's soccer team closed a double overtime match in a scoreless draw with Augustana on Friday at Buxton Stadium.

Both teams were nearly equal in shot attempts over the course of the contest, with the Storm (4-0-3) holding a slight advantage at 19-18 over the Vikings (4-0-2).

Simpson had several opportunities to break the tie with a goal, but the Augustana goalkeeper was a wall and made eight saves. Aspen Brockhouse grabbed seven shots to add another shutout to increase the Storm's total to six for the season.

In the beginning minutes of the second overtime, Baileigh Nagy had a close shot blocked and Cami Schmalz got a boot on the rebound but had the same result.

• This is Augustana's second tie against an American Rivers Conference school this season as they tied 1-1 with Coe on Tuesday.

Comments from Coach Reinert
"I'm proud of the effort it took to come away with a respectful result against a tough opponent tonight. We showed maturity and depth which allowed us to grind on a 110 minute battle.

We have continued to improve as a group and are starting to become more dangerous in the attacking third. Our chances are real and our attacking presence is a huge reason we earned another shutout tonight."
