A junior midfielder from Muscatine, Iowa, Schmalz maintains a 4.00 GPA while studying psychology. After scoring just three goals in her previous two seasons with the Storm, Schmalz exploded with eight goals this past year to lead the squad. Schmalz ended with five game-winning goals to top the conference and is currently seventh in team history with seven game-winners. Schmalz earned her way onto the Honorable Mention All-American Rivers Conference Team by helping Simpson to its first conference tournament appearance since 2013 and most wins in a season since 2011 with 10.
