Storm extend winning streak over Buena Vista

STORM LAKE, Iowa -- Jenna Taylor reached double figures for the third-straight game as Simpson moved its winning streak to eight contests after clinching an 83-60 triumph at Buena Vista on Wednesday in American Rivers Conference action.

Taylor and Cameron Kincaid powered the offense with 15 points each and combined to go 9-for-9 at the free throw line. Kia Rasmussen scored 12 points from her guard position and swiped three balls on defense.

The Storm (12-3, 4-2 A-R-C) showcased their depth by tallying 41 bench points, while the Beavers (1-15, 0-7 A-R-C) scored 14. Simpson never trailed in the game and shot 43.7% from the floor and went nearly perfect at the charity stripe with 15 makes in 17 chances.

In the first 10 minutes of the game, the Storm charged out to a 26-13 advantage. The team showed effort in every facet of the game, especially on the glass with 24 rebounds during the quarter.

The offense slowed briefly in the second by only putting 19 on the scoreboard, but issued a 15-7 run over the first seven minutes of action. Buena Vista fought with a 5-5 spurt to end the half at 45-25.

Simpson had its largest scoring output in the third with 28 points by shooting 50.0% from the field and from deep. Taylor shined in the period by going 3-for-4 for nine points. In the fourth, Todd netted five of her points while the Beavers outscored the Storm 21-10 to end the game with some momentum.

• Of the 13 players that scored for Simpson, nine had at least four points.
Cassie Chubb has now scored seven points in back-to-back games after having a streak of 11-straight contests with double digits.
Essance Porter and Chloe Van Vliet saw their first action of the year in the win.
