A-R-C selects Chubb as Athlete of the Week

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Simpson women's basketball senior Cassie Chubb was tabbed as the American Rivers Conference Female Athlete and Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.

Chubb led the Storm to two wins at the Millikin Holiday Classic for the tournament title and an opening round win of the Music City Classic yesterday. Chubb averaged 14.6 points and 6.7 rebounds per outing in those victories and connected on three triples in all of those contests.

The Storm (8-3) return to action tonight with a 7 p.m. (CT) showdown against Washington and Lee in Nashville, Tenn.

Cassie Chubb | Female Athlete and Women's Basketball Player of the Week
• Senior from Des Moines, Iowa
• Tallied 14.6 points and 6.7 rebounds per game in the team's three wins
• Went 9-of-15 from behind the arc for Simpson
• Had a team-high 17 points in the win over Millikin in the title game of the Millikin Holiday Classic
• Currently tied for sixth in the league in rebounding (6.2) and seventh in scoring (14.4)
• The team's win against Millikin secured head coach Brian Niemuth his 600th career coaching victory
• This is her first weekly award from the conference office
