Storm set to host first rounds of NCAA Championship

NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship Website - First and Second Rounds

INDIANOLA, Iowa – The Simpson College women's basketball team will host the first two rounds of the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship, to be held Friday, March 1 and Saturday, March 2 at Cowles Fieldhouse.

The three teams making the trip to Indianola are: Westminster (Mo.), UW-Stevens Point and Concordia-Moorhead.

The No. 12 Storm (25-2) will host Westminster (17-10) in the first round on Friday at 7 p.m. UW-Stevens Point (23-5) and Concordia-Moorhead (21-6) play in the first game, scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.

The winners of the first round games will meet Saturday at 7 p.m.

Simpson won the Iowa Conference's automatic bid to the tournament by beating Dubuque 79-68 in the IIAC Tournament Championship game on Sunday afternoon. Westminster earned an automatic bid by winning the Saint Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament, UW-Stevens Point earned the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's automatic bid and Concordia-Moorhead picked up an at-large bid out of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

Simpson is hosting the first and second rounds for the fifth time in school history. The Storm last hosted in 2009 and are 3-3 all-time when playing at home in the NCAA Championship.
