Simpson over-matches Northland to remain undefeated

STORM LAKE, Iowa – Kate Nielsen led three players in double figures and the Simpson women's basketball team proved to be too much for Northland in an 89-42 win at the Buena Vista Classic on Saturday.

Nielsen scored 19 points, grabbed six rebounds and went a perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line for the Storm (5-0), who won both games at the Buena Vista Classic on the weekend and remain undefeated this season.

Morgan Terpstra scored 15 points off the bench and Maddie Muhlenbruck added 13 as the Storm dominated in every facet of the game.

Cassandra Baum scored 12 points and had seven rebounds for the LumberJills (0-4), who managed only 13 points in the first half.

For the second game in a row, Simpson took good care of the ball on the offensive end of the floor. After committing only eight turnovers in a win over Gustavus Adolphus on Friday, Simpson turned it over only 10 times on Saturday to go along with 21 assists. Megan Lankford and Maddie Bosworth paced the team with four assists apiece.

Thirteen players saw time for the Storm. Nielsen's 19 points came in just 14 minutes on the floor.

Simpson will play at Iowa Wesleyan on Wednesday, Nov. 28. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
