Simpson makes jump in national polls
INDIANOLA, Iowa – The Simpson women's basketball team moved up in both the D3hoops.com Top 25 and the USA TDODAY Sports Top 25 Coaches' polls, which were released earlier this week.
The Storm jumped three spots to No. 17 in the D3hoops.com poll and four spots to No. 21 in the USA TODAY Sports poll.
Simpson received 218 points in the D3hoops.com Top 25 poll, which is voted on by a panel of 25 coaches, sports information directors and media members across the country.
Simpson received 40 points in the USA TODAY Sports Top 25 Coaches' Poll, which is voted on by nine head coaches at Division III institutions who are members of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA).
The Storm are currently 7-0 on the season after wins over Iowa Wesleyan (72-53) and previously undefeated Wheaton (74-52) last week. The start is Simpson's best since going 10-0 to start the 2008-09 season.
Simpson faces another test Wednesday when it travels to Des Moines to face Grand View at 7 p.m.
