Storm peak at No. 6/9 in national rankings

INDIANOLA, Iowa – Despite suffering its first loss of the conference season on Wednesday, the Simpson women's basketball team came in at No. 6 in the USA TODAY Sports Top 25/Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Coaches' Poll released earlier this week.

The No. 6 ranking is Simpson's highest in the USA TODAY Sports Top 25/WBCA Coaches' Poll since also reaching No. 6 in the poll released Jan. 22, 2008. Simpson was No. 7 a week ago.

The Storm (22-2, 12-1 Iowa Conference) saw their bid for an undefeated conference season come to a close with a 72-56 loss to Dubuque on Wednesday night. The national rankings were released prior to the loss.

Simpson held steady at No. 9 in the D3hoops.com Top 25 Poll, matching the highest since also being ranked No. 9 on Jan. 19, 2009.

The Storm close out the regular season at Central on Saturday, Feb. 16, then will host an IIAC Tournament Semifinal game on Feb. 21 due to receiving a bye in the first round.
