Storm split pair of A-R-C matches in Dubuque

DUBUQUE, Iowa -- The Simpson College women's tennis split two American Rivers Conference matches in Dubuque on Saturday.

The Storm (3-4, 3-3 A-R-C) started their day with a 6-3 loss to Loras (3-3, 2-2 A-R-C) before traveling to Dubuque (2-10, 0-5 A-R-C) later in the afternoon. Simpson won 9-0 against the Spartans to get back in the win column.

Seniors Anna Wanek and Emily King and freshman Bella Tranquilino won both of their singles bouts for Simpson on Saturday. Wanek only lost four games in four sets at No. 1 and King closed her day with a sweep in No. 2 singles.

After dropping all three doubles matches against the Duhawks, Simpson rebounded by taking all three at Dubuque. Wanek and King won 8-1 and the tandem of juniors Donni Kinghorn and Kennedi Wright collected an 8-2 triumph.

Freshman Anna Schewe made her first appearance of the season in doubles play against the Spartans, but her match with Tranquilino ended in a default.
