Storm close outdoor season at Twilight Qualifier

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. -- The Simpson men's and women's track and field teams produced two first-place results at the Twilight Qualifier to close the door on the 2019 outdoor season in Rock Island, Ill. on Thursday.

Hosted by Augustana College, Logan Egeland and Aubrey Klein both garnered top finishes in their respective events. In the 5,000 meters, Egeland crossed the finish in 16:54.12 to end first among the men. Klein had a time of 2:25.41 in the 800 meters to pace the Storm women.

Jordan Coughenour tallied a third-place nod in the 400-meter hurdles to wrap up his impressive career for the Storm. Austin Greenwalt finished 11th in the same event.

Kirk Wicks ran a 49.86 in the 400 meters to capture his season-best mark in the event. Emmitt Wheatley tallied seventh in the 200 meters and 13th in the 100-meter dash.

The 4x100-meter relay of Troy Vittetoe, Craig Garrison, Travis Tupper and Kellen Fitch earned fourth for Simpson. In the 4x400, the quartet of Chase Wetterling, Coughenour, Garrison and Tupper received sixth place.

Caleb Striegel finished 14th in the discus throw and 15th in the shot put, while Greenwalt had a toss of 35.89 meters to finish 10th in the javelin to round out the field events for Simpson.
