Simpson throwers compete at Grinnell Invitational

GRINNELL, Iowa -- The Simpson men's and women's track and field teams competed in two throwing events at the Grinnell Invitational on Saturday.

The men finished in sixth place with 38 team points and the women claimed two points for a seventh-place result.

Caleb Striegel had himself a day and had finishes of first and second. Striegel had a distance of 46 feet, 6.25 inches in the weight throw to garner top honors. In the shot put, he had a toss of 46 feet, 3.50 inches for second. Mason Spree finished second in the shot put (45 feet, 11.75 inches) and sixth in the shot put.

Josh Dietrich claimed seventh-place marks in both events. Jaxon Lee ended fifth in the weight throw and ninth in the shot. Connor Warrick launched the shot 37 feet, 6.50 inches for eighth place.

On the women's side, Madison Anderson was the only performer for the Storm. Anderson tallied seventh place in the weight throw with a distance of 31 feet, 6.50 inches and received ninth in the shot put (26 feet, 5.75 inches).

Simpson competes at the Wartburg Select Invitational on Friday. The meet begins at 4 p.m. and carries over onto Saturday, with competition resuming at 10 a.m.
