Dietrich captures first at Blue Oval Invite

DES MOINES, Iowa -- Josh Dietrich garnered the lone first-place result for the Simpson men's track and field team at the Blue Oval Invitational on Saturday while the Storm tallied three second-place marks across the board.

Dietrich launched the javelin 51.20 meters, three meters farther than second place. Connor Warrick had a distance of 45.34 meters in the event for third.

Travis Tupper logged a time of 50.42 seconds for second place in the 400 meters. Kirk Wicks finished third in the event with a time of 50.61.

Josh Paulson paced himself in the 800 meters with a time of 1:57.78, placing him in second.

Kellen Fitch turned in a third-place nod in the 200 meters and a fifth-place result in the 100 meters. Craig Garrison tallied third in the 100 and fourth in the 200.

Simpson will compete against American Rivers Conference foes, Central and Nebraska Wesleyan, in Lincoln, Neb. on Friday.
