Storm men place fourth at Central Invite

PELLA, Iowa -- The Simpson men's track and field team completed a two-day meet on Saturday at the Central Invitational. The Storm ended in fourth place out of 10 squads.

Simpson placed two runners on the top of the podium in Pella, Iowa. Logan Egeland crossed the finish in first in the 10,000 meters, while Jonathan Facio finished first in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

Josh Paulson came within a second of garnering first place in the 1,500 meters, but ended in second. The 4x400-meter relay of Chase Wetterling, Travis Tupper, Kirk Wicks and Emmitt Wheatley tallied second as well.

Tupper and Wicks both had third and fourth-place marks in two other events. In the 200, Wicks finished in third and Tupper was just behind, and the duo flipped-flopped in the 400 with Tupper crossing the finish sooner in third.

Tyler Combs entered the top five with a fourth-place nod in the 800. Tyler Williams ended in fifth place in the 400-meter hurdles and seventh in the 110 hurdles.

Austin Greenwalt had a stellar two-day performance and ended in fifth place in the decathlon.

In the long jump, Carter Berkey soared 6.20 meters for fifth.

Outside of the track in the throwing events, Josh Dietrich paced the team with third place in javelin. Caleb Striegel launched the shot put 15.15 meters for fifth.

The Storm compete in the Blue Oval Invitational from April 12-13 in Des Moines at Drake University.
