Storm in solid position after first day of conference championships

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa - The Simpson College men's golf team is in a strong position after day one of the American Rivers Conference Championships.

The Storm currently sit in fourth place, with four of five players under 80 in the first round. The total team score of 307 is the team's best score in any round of a conference championship since the final round of the 2018 tournament.

Simpson was led by Blake Perrin, who fired an opening round score of 75 to tie for seventh. Perrin is just three shots off the tournament lead.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Perrin's round of 75 is also the best individual round for a Storm golfer in the conference championships since the same final round in 2018.
  • Bradley Kofoed sits just outside the top 10 in 11th after firing a 76, one stroke behind Perrin. Kofoed's 76 is a new career best.
  • Jack Wahman and Avin Legg each put together solid rounds of 78 to place inside the top 20.
  • Simpson is only one shot behind Central for third, with only seven strokes separating the leaders Nebraska Wesleyan from the Storm.
  • Perrin, Kofoed, Wahman, and Legg all beat or matched the team's best individual round from last year's conference tournament.
