Simpson victorious at home event

INDIANOLA, Iowa - The Simpson College men's golf team won its home event, the Simpson Fall Invite, after the Simpson Red team shot an impressive 302 on Wednesday at the Indianola Country Club.

The score of 302 was Simpson's best individual round from its scoring lineup since the opening round of the Wartburg Fall Invite in the fall of 2018. The Storm finished 10 strokes over second place to claim its first tournament win since April 2017, also at its home tournament.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • All five members of Simpson Red shot 78 or better, with Blake Perrin and Max Trembly carding 75's to tie for fifth place individually.
  • Jack Wahman and Avin Legg also recorded top 10 finishes individually with each player shooting 76.
  • Isaac Roe completed the Simpson Red lineup by firing a 78.
  • Jacob Peterson, competing on Simpson Gold, was the other Storm player to break 80, also carding a 76 to match Wahman and Legg.
  • The Storm finished three strokes better than last year's second-place finish to claim the win.
