Men’s golf opens season in Illinois

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The Simpson College men's golf team tied for ninth at its first event of the season, the two-day Highland Championship, hosted by Augustana (Ill.).

The Storm brought eight total players to the event, with five players in the scoring lineup and three playing as individuals. The Storm tied for ninth out of 16 total teams, shooting a two-day total of 622 (314, 308).

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The top Storm golfer was freshman Avin Legg, who played as an individual.
  • The Ankeny, Iowa native took home 10th place overall in his first collegiate event with back-to-back rounds of 73 and 75 for a two-day total of 148.
  • Blake Perrin was the top Storm golfer in the scoring lineup, carding a career-best 73 on the second day of the event to place 24th.
  • Bradley Kofoed tied his career-best round with a 77 on day two.
  • With a total of 308 on day two from the five golfers in the scoring lineup, the Storm men rose three places.

UP NEXT

The Storm head to Marion, Iowa for the Mount Mercy Fall Invitational, taking place next Saturday and Sunday at Hunters Ridge Golf Course.
