Riordan named Academic All-America for second time

AUSTIN, Texas -- Simpson senior Conor Riordan continues to pile on the accolades after being named an Academic All-America First Team selection, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Wednesday.

Riordan is now the second player in Storm men's basketball history to receive the honor twice as he was a second team member in 2018-19. In addition to this honor, the Ankeny, Iowa native was listed on the American Rivers All-Conference First Team at the conclusion of this season and is a finalist for the prestigious Jostens Trophy award.

Riordan ended his last year in a Simpson uniform by averaging 20.1 points per game to move into eighth in team history for career points at 1,533. He scored over 20 points in 18 outings this year with a career-high 39 against Greenville on Nov. 23, 2019.

Off the court, Riordan holds a 3.94 GPA as a mathematics major and is one of five student-athletes across the three Academic All-America teams that has a GPA higher than 3.90. The men's first team has a combined GPA of 3.83 among the five selections.
