MBB Preview: Storm visit No. 10 Nebraska Wesleyan on Wednesday

INDIANOLA, Iowa -- No. 10 Nebraska Wesleyan awaits the Simpson men's basketball team on Wednesday for the Storm's first game in 2020. The American Rivers Conference contest is slated to begin at 7:30 p.m. inside Snyder Arena in Lincoln, Neb.

Simpson (7-5, 1-2 A-R-C) is looking to even its conference record and get back in the win column after losing 87-75 to Redlands on Dec. 18. The Prairie Wolves (11-2, 4-0 A-R-C) have won 10 league games in a row dating back to last season and return to the court after claiming a 99-85 triumph over Loras on Saturday, Jan. 4.

NEBRASKA WESLEYAN SERIES NOTES
The Storm and Prairie Wolves meet for the 53rd time on Wednesday as Nebraska Wesleyan is currently riding a three-game winning streak and have won the last 11 of 12 over Simpson ... the teams last met in the semifinals of the American Rivers Conference Tournament on Feb. 21, 2019 ... the Storm lost 85-80, but came back to within two points after being down by 15 with 11 minutes left in the game.

Nebraska Wesleyan is currently ranked No. 10 in the D3hoops.com Top-25 Poll after dropping two spots from No. 8 since the previous poll was released ... the Prairie Wolves took care of business against Loras on Saturday, Dec. 4 in a 99-85 decision ... senior Nate Schimonitz is first in the league and sixth in the nation in scoring at 26.9 ppg ... on offense, the team is first in field goal percentage (51.6%) and fourth in the conference in scoring (87.2) ... on the other end of the court, Nebraska Wesleyan is second in points allowed per contest (73.5) and in steals (9.38).

LAST TIME OUT
Simpson suffered an 87-75 defeat to Redlands to close out its trip to San Diego, Calif. on Dec. 18 ... the Storm held a 17-point lead at the halfway point in the first half before the Bulldogs staged a 19-4 run to bring the game to two ... in the second stanza, Simpson tallied a slim six-point advantage, but Redlands fought back to take the lead after a 9-0 spurt ... the Bulldogs would end the game on a 13-2 run to drain the Storm's hopes of finishing the West Coast trip with back-to-back triumphs.

STORM NOTES
• The offense is currently ranked seventh in the country in field goal percentage (51.0) and ninth in scoring (91.5), which are both second in the conference.
Adam Reiter was named the American Rivers Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for his performance in California after scoring 20.5 ppg and 9.0 rpg on the trip. Reiter's 9.3 boards per outing are second in the league.
• Three starters are scoring in double figures as Conor Riordan is leading the way at 19.2 ppg. Reiter is second at 17.8 and Kyle Wagner follows with an average of 15.9.
