MBB Preview: Storm face-off against rival Dutch

INDIANOLA, Iowa -- The Simpson men's basketball team hits the road for the fourth-straight weekend in a Saturday battle at Central. The American Rivers Conference contest begins at 4 p.m.

The Storm (10-10, 4-7 A-R-C) lost to Loras, 85-67, in last weekend's showdown. The Dutch (4-17, 1-11 A-R-C) lost 91-82 to Dubuque and extended their losing streak to 13 games.

CENTRAL SERIES NOTES
The Storm and Dutch meet for the 204th time in a series that started in 1906-07 ... over the last three seasons, the league foes have been in a back-and-forth battle with each squad winning three games over the last six meetings ... Simpson won the last meeting, 91-71, inside Cowles Fieldhouse to halt a three-game losing skid ... Conor Riordan led the Storm with 26 points and Adam Reiter notched a double-double in the win.

ABOUT THE DUTCH
Central and seventh-year head coach Craig Douma are looking to grab a victory after suffering 13-straight losses ... the Dutch's sole win in conference play came against Wartburg in early December ... Adam Flinn is averaging 20.7 points per outing for second in the league on a 49.2% shooting clip ... Caden Mauck is second on the team by scoring 16.7 points to help the offense net 83.6 points a game for fourth in the conference.

LAST TIME OUT
A Simpson bucket knotted the game at 7-7 in the first five minutes of play, which would be the last time the Storm had a shot at the lead in the loss at Loras ... the Duhawks then took off on a 10-3 spurt to pull away ... in the second half, Loras rolled off an 18-4 run to put the game out of reach ... Simpson finished with 20 rebounds for its lowest since grabbing 18 against Coe on Feb. 15, 2014 ... seniors Adam Reiter and Kyle Wagner teamed up to both score 19 points.

• In the A-R-C, the Storm are second in shooting percentage (49.0%), third in scoring (85.6), but are second to last in points allowed per contest at 82.1.
• Three starters are scoring in double figures as Riordan is leading the way at 19.5 ppg. Reiter is second at 16.1 and Kyle Wagner follows with an average of 14.2.
Conor Riordan has scored at least 24 points in the last five of seven contests this season to average 21.9 points per game since Jan. 11.
Conor Riordan became the 21st player in program history to reach the 1,000-point mark. He needed just 11 points to reach it when the season started and used his 22 points in the season opener against Bethany Lutheran to join the club. Riordan is currently 10th in program history with 1,379 and needs 47 points to move into ninth.
