Riordan named A-R-C Athlete of the Week

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Senior Conor Riordan was awarded with the American Rivers Conference Male Athlete of the Week honor after helping the Simpson men's basketball team reach the A-R-C Tournament for the fifth-straight season.

Riordan powered the Storm to a dominating 86-59 victory over No. 6 Nebraska Wesleyan last Wednesday to snap the Prairie Wolves' 20-game winning streak against league foes. The momentum continued on Saturday as Simpson defeated Buena Vista to clinch a spot in the league tournament.

The Ankeny, Iowa native averaged 22.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game last week en route to his second conference honor this season and of his career. Riordan barely left the court as he averaged 36.5 minutes of action per outing, just higher than his league-leading mark of 34.2.

The Storm (13-12) travel to Buena Vista (18-7) on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. contest in the A-R-C Tournament opener.
