Riordan receives A-R-C Player of the Week accolade

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- After making big plays all week for the Simpson men's basketball team, Conor Riordan was named the American Rivers Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.

Riordan was the driving force in the Storm's 161-160 win over Greenville on Saturday as Simpson moved to 5-2 overall. The senior connected on the game-tying 3-pointer as time expired to send the game into overtime and then sank two free throws with just seconds left to seal the victory in the Carroll Pre-Thanksgiving Tournament.

The 6-foot guard averaged 22.3 points per game as the team went 2-1 for the week. Aside from the high-scoring contest on Saturday, the Storm won 84-74 over Cornell on Tuesday and lost 71-70 to Carroll to open the tourney on Friday.

Simpson returns to action tomorrow night as Dubuque visits for the American Rivers Conference opener. Tipoff is slated for 7:30 p.m.
