MBB Preview: Rivalry continues as Central visits on Saturday

INDIANOLA, Iowa -- The rivalry continues as Simpson men's basketball hosts Central on Saturday for the 203rd meeting between the two teams. Tipoff is set for 4 p.m. after the women's contest inside Cowles Fieldhouse.

The Storm (7-6, 1-3 A-R-C) suffered an 86-64 loss to No. 10 Nebraska Wesleyan on Wednesday and the Dutch (4-9, 1-3 A-R-C) had the same fate in a 64-62 loss at Luther.

The game will be video streamed live on SimpsonAthletics.com as Bryan Geelan has the call as pregame begins at 1:50 p.m. Fans can also access the video stream via the American Rivers application on Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV and Android TV.

CENTRAL SERIES NOTES
The Storm and Dutch meet for the 203rd time in a series that started in 1906-07 ... over the last three seasons, neither team has gained momentum in the series as both teams have won three games over the last six meetings ... Simpson won the last meeting, 93-87, inside Cowles Fieldhouse on senior day to clinch a spot in the American Rivers Conference Tournament ... Adam Reiter scored a previous career-best 26 points in the win.

Central and seventh-year head coach Craig Douma have lost five games in a row since winning back-to-back games at the beginning of December ... the Dutch are currently 1-3 in the A-R-C with a 92-79 win over Wartburg ... Adam Flinn is pacing the offense with 20.8 ppg for second in the conference ... Caden Mauck is just shy of averaging a double-double for the year with 15.8 ppg and 9.7 rpg, which puts him first in the league on the glass ... Central is just behind the Storm in scoring with 88.3 ppg, but are last among the league's nine schools in points allowed at 91.5.

LAST TIME OUT
Simpson was upended 86-64 at No. 10 Nebraska Wesleyan on Wednesday as the Prairie Wolves improved to 5-0 in the conference ... the Storm struggled from the court as they shot 36.5% for their lowest output this season … Kyle Wagner was the lone shooter to reach double figures with 10 points ... Chris Honz and Adam Reiter both snatched six rebounds, while four of Reiter's were on the offensive end.

STORM NOTES
• The offense is currently ranked 12th in the country in field goal percentage (49.9), 15th in 3-point percentage (40.2) and 18th in scoring (89.4).
Conor Riordan became the 21st player in program history to reach the 1,000-point mark. He needed just 11 points when the season started and used his 22 points in the season opener against Bethany Lutheran to join the club. Riordan is currently 11th in program history with 1,226 career points.
• In the A-R-C, the Storm are second in scoring (89.4) and in shooting percentage (49.9), but are second to last in points allowed per contest at 84.7.
• Three starters are scoring in double figures as Conor Riordan is leading the way at 18.2 ppg. Reiter is second at 17.0 and Kyle Wagner follows with an average of 15.5.
