Four Storm standouts earn all-conference honors

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Four Simpson College women's basketball players have been named to the 2024-25 All-American Rivers Conference Team, with senior guards Molly Lutmer and Haley Rasmussen earning first team honors. Freshman forward Ella Anderson and junior guard Elle Street received honorable mention recognition.

Lutmer and Rasmussen capped off their decorated careers with standout seasons that placed them among the nation's elite. Lutmer ranked second in the conference in scoring at 17.9 points per game overall and 19.1 points in league play, while Rasmussen led all NCAA divisions in 3-point percentage (51.7%) and set a school record with 75 made triples. Both players surpassed 1,000 career points and climbed into the top five in program history for made 3-pointers, leaving their marks in the Simpson record books.

Anderson made an immediate impact in her freshman campaign, ranking second in program history for single-season field goal percentage (61.8%) while leading the team in rebounding with 5.7 per game. Street provided a steady presence on both ends of the court, finishing second on the team in assists and top 10 in the conference in steals.

The Storm finished the year as the top 3-point shooting team in Division III (40.2), while also recording the eighth-best overall field goal percentage in the nation (45.9). Simpson ranked 14th in scoring offense (77.7 ppg) fueled by 9.0 3-pointers per game (5th in DIII). The Storm tied for second in the A-R-C with an 11-5 record and went 15-11 overall.

Molly Lutmer, First Team

  • Senior guard from Perry, Iowa
  • Garners first team all-conference honors for the second consecutive season
  • Averaged 17.9 points overall and 19.1 points in league play to rank second in the conference in both
  • Drained 70 3-pointers, tied for the fourth-most in single season program history
  • Poured in 37 points in an overtime win against Luther, most by a Simpson player since 1996
  • Ranked second on the team with 116 rebounds (4.5/game)
  • Tallied 38 steals to rank top-10 in the conference
  • Reached double-digit scoring in all but four games
  • Surpassed 20 points 12 times, including five straight to close the season
  • Eclipsed 1,000 career points in the regular season finale against Buena Vista
  • Named A-R-C Athlete of the Week on Feb. 10 as well as Player of the Week on Jan. 20
  • Ended her career ranked fourth in made 3-pointers (188) and 19th in scoring (1,030)

Haley Rasmussen, First Team

  • Senior guard from Atlantic, Iowa
  • Earns her second straight first team honor, giving her three all-conference awards in her career
  • Led all NCAA divisions in overall 3-point percentage, converting a school record 51.7 percent
  • Knocked down a program record 75 3-pointers, ranking 14th in Division III
  • Scored in double figures in 23 of 26 games, averaging a career-high 14.5 points
  • Had multiple triples in all but three games, making four or more in eight contests
  • Ranked third on the team with 47 assists and added 49 rebounds and 25 steals
  • Converted a conference-best 89.2 percent of free throws (58-65)
  • Became 20th member of 1,000-point club on Jan. 18, finishing 13th in career scoring (1,138)
  • Concluded her career with the fifth-most 3-pointers in a Simpson career (186)

Ella Anderson, Honorable Mention

  • Freshman forward from Olathe, Kan.
  • Becomes first Simpson freshman to land on the all-conference team since the 2017-18 season
  • Converted 61.8 percent of her field goal attempts, the second-best season efficiency in school history (min. 100 attempts)
  • Led Simpson with 149 rebounds and 5.7 rebounds per game
  • Recorded her first collegiate double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds against Saint Benedict
  • Tallied six or more rebounds on 14 occasions

Elle Street, Honorable Mention

  • Junior guard from Ankeny, Iowa
  • Ranked second on the team with 60 assists (2.5/game)
  • Tallied 38 steals to rank top-10 in the conference
  • Had a career game against Dubuque on Dec. 7, scoring 22 points behind 8 of 9 shooting overall and five 3-pointers
  • Registered multiple steals in 13 of 24 games played
  • Dished out multiple assists in 17 games, including a career-high seven against Mount Union
