Simpson upended by Mount Union in Daytona Beach

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Simpson College women's basketball team was upended 80-54 by Mount Union in its first game at the Daytona Beach Shootout.

The Storm (5-6) fell behind 42-29 in the first half but started the third quarter on a 13-4 run to cut the deficit to 46-42 with 5:26 left in the frame. Mount Union (4-6) took the momentum back shortly after and held Simpson to two points the rest of the period. The Raiders won the fourth quarter 21-10.

Mount Union converted 13 3-pointers, while Simpson was held to just four makes in 23 attempts.
