Storm strike big in second quarter, overpower Loras for 10th conference win

DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Simpson College women's basketball team dominated the second quarter and rode another stellar performance from Molly Lutmer to an 80-52 road victory over Loras.

After a last-second heave by Daniella Jarrell trimmed Simpson's lead to 17-13 at the end of the first quarter, the Storm (14-10, 10-5 A-R-C) seized control. Simpson erupted for 15 unanswered points and overwhelmed the Duhawks (9-14, 6-8 A-R-C) with a suffocating 22-5 second quarter margin, breaking the game wide open.

Lutmer and Haley Rasmussen kept the pressure on in the third, combining for 13 quick points to push the lead to 30. From there, the Storm never looked back, cruising to their 10th conference victory.

Lutmer and Ella Anderson both flirted with double-doubles, combining for 34 points while finishing just two rebounds shy of the mark. Rasmussen and Doryn Paup also reached double figures in a balanced offensive effort that secured another key A-R-C win.
