EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – Haley Rasmussen poured in 27 points to lead four players in double figures, but the Simpson College women's basketball team ended on the wrong side of a high-scoring clash against Wis.-La Crosse, falling 101-89.
Rasmussen was just shy of her career-high 28 points, sinking five 3-pointers and going 10-for-12 from the free throw line. Maddax DeVault also found her rhythm, hitting four triples to total 15 points. Molly Lutmer and Karsen Jacks joined the double-figure club, adding 14 and 10 points, respectively.
The Storm (1-1) shot an impressive 54.0 percent from the field and kept clawing their way back, but each rally was met with a timely answer from the Eagles (1-1). Wis.-La Crosse outrebounded Simpson 39-27 and capitalized on 15 second chance points, which proved crucial in securing the win.
